To provide support to Home Library Service clients

Roles and responsibilities

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • ​Deliver and return library items
  • Deliver additional materials such as overdue notices or other library information
  • Convey client requests or enquiries to the library
  • Record volunteer hours undertaken, using the appropriate form or volunteer book, at the end of each shift
  • Undertake other volunteer duties as required

Who you report to 

LINC Tasmania staff responsible for the Home Library Service direct and supervise the volunteer, in accordance with the LINC Tasmania Volunteer Management Guidelines. Volunteers engaged in Department of Education approved activities are covered by the Tasmanian Risk Management Fund.


  • ​​Volunteers are expected to have:
    • Good communication, organisational and listening skills
    • The ability to be sensitive, patient, understanding and respectful of clients’ needs
    • A willingness to be flexible and enthusiastic
  • Registered to Work with Vulnerable People
  • A current driver’s licence
  • A completed Volunteer Commitment form
  • An interest in or knowledge of the range of programs and services provided by the LINC Tasmania
  • Volunteers are only expected to deliver library materials to the Home Library Service client. Activities outside this expectation are between the volunteer and client and beyond the responsibility of LINC Tasmania​
